Bacillus Bulgaricus starters are easy-to-use no-fuss starters that make wonderful and delicious products. You don’t need any specific tools or equipment in order to make your own yogurt. Yogurt making has never been easier!
We run a tight short supply and distribution chain so our products are as fresh as possible when they reach you. All our products are made fresh and have 2+ years of shelf life. We supply our distributors about once a month (and often more frequently) with about a month-worth of stock. Once they leave the factory, it takes about 2-7 days for the packs to reach your local distributor. When your local distributors ships your order it takes 2-3 days on average for it to reach you. That makes your packs about a month old, leaving them more than 23 months of shelf life left.
Our yogurt starters contain minute quantity of dried organic skim milk powder. It’s the medium on which the strains grow and part of it gets packaged together with them. So the starters are NOT lactose free. However, it is very unlikely that you will be eating the starter directly and it is very likely that you will be using it to prepare yogurt. When you do this, during incubation, all the milk powder from the starter is completely consumed by the bacteria. What is more the bacteria gobbles up all the lactose from the milk you used to make your yogurt. As a result, the yogurt you just made is completely lactose free.
The ready-made yogurt, Greek yogurt, rose yogurt, kefir and sourdough are lactose-free. The sirene and kashkaval you make with dairy-yogurt are NOT lactose free.
Note: If you are lactose intolerant or have allergies to lactose, always use precaution and talk to your doctor first before using any products that may contain lactose.

Suitable for Dairy Milk
All Bacillus Bulgaricus starter are suitable to use for all types of fresh or pasteurized dairy milk, including powdered milk.
Suitable for Non-dairy and Vegan Milk
All Bacillus Bulgaricus starter are suitable to use for all types of vegan and non-dairy milk. However keep in mind that most non-dairy milks lack the fat solids that naturally thicken the yogurt during fermentation.
