I used your culture to create a very nice sourdough starter, and with it have made pizza dough and bread. I am quite pleased with the result for both. It has a lovely smell, and gives an excellent rise to the dough with a strong oven spring. And the taste is everything one might expect from sourdough. The result of my first two efforts is equal to that of the starter I have used for years, so I am eager to discover how it will develop as it matures. This is an excellent result for a starter that is less than two weeks old.
I hope you stick with your bread making. I have been baking for most of my adult life (I am 74), and there are few things more satisfying than fresh baked bread. The possible combination of ingredients is nearly endless and the results, no matter what, are generally satisfying. Baked bread makes a fabulous gift to give to friends, family, and neighbors. And when the snow is falling there is no better way to warm the house and fill it with a smell that lasts most of the day.

I started the starter about a week ago and it bubbled up nicely and the smell was great.
I have been feeding it daily and observing as it continues to ferment. Depending on how things go today I just may make pizza dough.
Yes, I will keep you posted on my observations and results. So far I am happy with what I see!

Okay, thanks, mine arrived yesterday. Today, I did the first step for the new starter.
My new starter is beginning to drop from first rise already, after only a few hours at room temp. (still in 70s in house here)

We love sourdough. I had to cut back on bread making as my husband had a heart attack and he’s on both a heart healthy and diet for diabetes so I haven’t made a lot of bread. I’m now making one loaf at a time and freezing half of it.
